There is enormous choice of photo gadgets. And also, there are tons of preferences and opinions by different photographers about which new tool would be good. This is why I will try to suggest only generic presents, which should be useful and interesting to bigger number of photogs.

For videographers

For book readers

This is tricky group. You might want to consider purchasing one of Kindle devices. Regular ones feel like real book, they do not tire the eyes and are very light and compact. Check the new Kindle touch 3g
I have one, and absolutely adore it.

If you prefer to give a real paper book, make sure that you know what level your friend has in photography and what is his/hers preferred field. In case you are not sure, I would suggest to again, choose something more likelly to appeal to everyone. Maybe something on photography business will be better, or just selection of National geographic hardcover big books. Those look great, have great photos, and actually one can learn a lot just by analyzing the great photography in them. I can suggest Through the lens series, amazing stuff.

Personal gifts

This category is for those of you that want to offer something both photography oriented and with personal appeal.

Not all gloves are good for photography. But here are ones that are
